JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick spoke with ABC News about the arrest of a Tufts University graduate student by ICE, calling out how the case is being used to justify broader attacks on democracy.

She made clear: multiple truths can exist at once. The Jewish community has real and urgent concerns about antisemitism—but those concerns are being exploited by the Trump administration to erode civil liberties, due process, and democratic norms.

Jewish safety is deeply tied to a democracy where everyone’s rights are protected. When fundamental freedoms are applied selectively—based on identity or political views—it makes all communities, including Jews, less safe.
