In a recent New York Times article examining how extremist-aligned figures are being elevated to senior government positions, JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick warned of the dangerous normalization of antisemitism and broader hate by political leaders.

The piece highlights the nomination of Paul Ingrassia — who has promoted white nationalist and antisemitic conspiracy theories — to lead the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.

“Part of the challenge is that in the last decade, there’s not only been a normalization of this extremism by political leaders but a desensitization to it,” said Amy Spitalnick, the chief executive of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, a coalition of advocacy groups. “So none of this should be surprising to anyone, even if it’s still shocking.”
