New York, NY – The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) adopted a resolution on Israeli-Palestinian coexistence authored and introduced by the Orthodox Union and the Union for Reform Judaism at JCPA’s annual conference in April. Throughout its history, JCPA has worked to advance peace and understanding between Israel and Palestinians. Committed leadership on both sides is essential to achievement of that goal.

The resolution states:

As an organization devoted to relationship-building, we know that a strong grassroots foundation for such peace is equally important, built through people to people engagement. To that end, JCPA supports the creation of the proposed International Fund for Israeli-Palestinian Peace with the goal of promoting and supporting “contact, cooperation, dialogue, shared community building, peaceful coexistence, joint economic development, and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians” through civil society projects, economic development and other such strategies that can bring about a peaceful future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

“Especially during this time of conflict, and lack of peace negotiations, the Jewish community relations field is committed to promoting people to people initiatives, which have helped other communities in conflict to resolve differences,” said David Bernstein, President and CEO of JCPA.
