Today, JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick joined lawmakers, advocates, and partners on Capitol Hill for the introduction of the bipartisan Jewish American Safety Act, landmark legislation aimed at combating antisemitism and strengthening the safety and security of Jewish communities across the country.
The bill represents an important investment in the tools we know work to protect Jews from antisemitism in our communities, on campuses, online, and beyond. It reflects growing recognition that rising antisemitism requires a whole-of-society response—one that strengthens security, safeguards civil rights, and addresses the spread of hate wherever it occurs.
The Jewish American Safety Act — introduced in the US Senate by Senators Jacky Rosen (NV) and James Lankford (OK) and the US House of Representatives by Reps. Dan Goldman (NY) and Mike Lawler (NY) — includes key policies that the Jewish community has advocated for years. The legislation would strengthen the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), preserve and bolster the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and its capacity to protect Jewish and all students, seek to better address extremism and hate on social media, and more.
In endorsing the bill, JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick issued the following statement:

A truly inclusive American democracy requires Jewish safety — and so too does our safety as Jews depend on protecting our democratic institutions and values and ensuring the safety and rights of each and every community. We are grateful to Representatives Goldman and Lawler for leading this introduction in the House, joining with Senators Rosen and Lankford to advance this critical legislation.”
