In response to the Supreme Court’s decisions in cases regarding trans children in sports, Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, released the following statement:
“Today’s ruling strips transgender kids of the right to simply play on a team with their classmates. This is sadly part of a broader assault on the fundamental rights and dignity of the trans community.
“When the law narrows who is protected and who belongs, every minority community is made less safe — and our own history has taught us that exclusion never stays contained to one group for long.
“Today, the Court effectively said that equality for one group can come at the expense of another; we reject that premise. A constitution that protects some of us only works if it protects all of us. We stand with transgender youth today and every day because their fight for belonging is our fight, too.”
