In response to the reintroduction of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the Senate, JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick shared the following statement:

“We’re witnessing a wave of voter suppression and it isn’t happening in a vacuum — it’s part of a broader effort to undercut communities’ fundamental rights and our democracy.

“Safeguarding the right to vote by preventing discriminatory laws is at the core of how we must fight back, which is precisely why the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is so critical.

“JCPA is proud to support this vital bill, because we know that all of our safety is inextricably linked with the health and vibrancy of our democracy.”
